About the Role
The Powerplant Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Head – Powerplant by managing the operational and technical facets of Sanad Capital’s extensive portfolio of commercial aircraft engines. This position ensures asset value optimization, strict regulatory compliance, and upholds technical excellence across all activities. Key functions include underwriting and valuing engine assets, overseeing engine transitions and technical diligence processes, managing repairs and vendor relationships, and maintaining adherence to operational, quality, and safety standards. The role demands close collaboration with internal teams, customers, and external partners to promote transparency, efficiency, and asset integrity. Additionally, the incumbent serves as a technical deputy to the Head – Powerplant when necessary, mentors team members, drives project delivery, and contributes to the advancement of global operational excellence.
Your Responsibilities
- Policies and Procedures (20%): Ensure rigorous compliance with established Powerplant policies, procedures, and quality standards. Recommend and implement process improvements based on operational insights and industry best practices. Support lease agreement reviews and negotiations, focusing on mitigating technical risks and aligning with lease provisions, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Technical Oversight and Transition Management (40%): Lead technical due diligence, pre-buy inspections, and lease transition activities for engine assets. Oversee storage, induction, redelivery, and delivery preparations to guarantee compliance with airworthiness and lease terms. Coordinate comprehensive review and validation of technical documentation, and represent Sanad at MROs, OEMs, and customer sites during inspections, transitions, and audits.
- Portfolio Management and Valuation Support (20%): Assist the Head – Powerplant in engine valuation, forecasting, and portfolio performance analysis. Provide technical input to support investment and divestment decisions. Monitor engine health, LLP status, and shop visit schedules to maintain accurate asset tracking. Prepare periodic reports and technical summaries for management and clients.
- Repair Management and Vendor Coordination (20%): Manage repair scopes, vendor selection, quotation assessments, and cost analysis. Track repair progress to ensure projects meet cost, turnaround time, and quality objectives. Foster strong relationships with OEMs, MROs, and service providers to secure optimal value. Recommend technical enhancements and cost optimization initiatives.
Who we are looking for
We seek a highly skilled professional with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Candidates must hold FAA or EASA Powerplant certification (or an equivalent internationally recognized qualification), with additional credentials in Project or Asset Management considered advantageous.
The ideal candidate brings 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in powerplant management, engine leasing, or technical operations, including at least 3 years in a similar capacity within airlines, leasing companies, OEMs, or engine consultancies. Proven expertise in lease transitions, repair management, and documentation audits is essential, alongside familiarity with major commercial engine types such as CFM56-5B/7B, V2500-A5, and Trent 700.
Key competencies include comprehensive market and industry knowledge, strong technical expertise in engine maintenance and performance, adeptness in contract and lease provisions, and demonstrated project and repair management capabilities. Candidates must exhibit analytical strength, meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to mentor and deputize effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and fluency in English with an IELTS Band Score of at least 7.0 or equivalent are required.
