About the Role
The Engineer – Engineering Production Support (Laboratory) plays a pivotal role in independently conducting and overseeing chemical and metallurgical testing activities that support Sanad’s special process workshops and third-party customers. This position ensures the technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability of laboratory outputs. The role involves validating test results, developing laboratory capabilities, supporting investigations, and maintaining compliance with UAE GCAA, FAA, EASA, and internal standards such as TPM and MOE. Additionally, the Engineer contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, technical problem-solving, and the mentoring of junior staff, ensuring high standards of laboratory performance and safety.
Your Responsibilities
- Laboratory Testing & Technical Execution (35%): Perform advanced metallurgical and chemical tests following OEM specifications and international standards (ASTM, ISO, AMS). Analyze and interpret test data, lead microstructural evaluations, failure analysis, and validate chemical analysis results while troubleshooting testing issues.
- Technical Documentation & Engineering Support (25%): Prepare, review, and approve detailed metallurgical and chemical test reports. Lead or assist with Engineering Evaluation Requests and technical investigations, ensuring documentation aligns with regulatory and internal standards. Provide expert technical input to Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams.
- Laboratory Operations & Compliance (20%): Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (GCAA, FAA, EASA). Oversee calibration, maintenance, and proper use of laboratory equipment, manage chemical inventories, and support audits by providing necessary documentation and justifications. Uphold Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
- Capability Development & Continuous Improvement (15%): Drive the development of new laboratory capabilities including test methods, equipment qualification, and process validation. Identify process optimization opportunities, participate in technical trials and innovation initiatives, and implement best practices to enhance laboratory operations.
- Team Support & Knowledge Sharing (5%): Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Associate Engineers and Technicians. Facilitate knowledge transfer and training within the laboratory and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational requirements.
Who we are looking for
We seek an experienced professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline, complemented by 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in chemical or metallurgical laboratories, preferably within the aviation MRO sector. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong expertise in metallurgical and chemical testing, including failure analysis and technical report validation, and is well-versed in aviation regulatory frameworks such as GCAA, FAA, and EASA. Proficiency with laboratory testing standards (ASTM, AMS, ISO), chemical process control, and laboratory equipment operation is essential. Key competencies include analytical thinking, problem-solving, regulatory compliance, process improvement, safety stewardship, and effective collaboration and mentoring skills.
